Recommended Pressing Instructions
Cotton, Poly/Cotton Blends & Most Fabrics
✅ Temperature: 300°F - 320°F
✅ Time: 15-20 Seconds
✅ Pressure: Medium to Firm
✅ Peel: Cool Peel
✅ Second Press: 10 Seconds
Important: Always pre-press your garment for 10 seconds before applying your transfer.
Before You Press
Pre-Press Every Garment
Pre-pressing removes:
- Moisture
- Wrinkles
- Fabric shrinkage
Skipping this step is one of the most common causes of transfer failure.
Check Your Heat Press
Not all heat presses are calibrated correctly.
If possible:
- Verify temperature with a heat gun
- Check pressure consistency
- Ensure the platen closes evenly
Common DTF Problems & Solutions
Problem: Humidity Spots or Cloudy Marks
Symptoms
You notice cloudy spots, moisture marks, or shiny areas around the design after pressing.
Solution
- Allow the garment to cool.
- Cover the design with a cotton t-shirt.
- Repress for 5-10 seconds.
Pro Tip: A cotton shirt often works better than a Teflon sheet because it absorbs excess moisture.
Problem: Small Letters or Fine Details Lift During Peel
Symptoms
Small text starts pulling up with the carrier film.
Solution
- Allow transfer to cool completely.
- Peel slowly.
- Peel low to the garment surface.
- If lifting occurs, place the film back down and repress for 5 seconds.
Pro Tip: The smaller the lettering, the more important it is to allow a full cool peel.
Problem: Corners or Edges Lift
Symptoms
The design sticks in the center but lifts around the edges.
Solution
- Increase pressure slightly.
- Repress for 5-10 seconds.
- Complete the second press.
Most edge lifting issues are caused by insufficient pressure.
Problem: Colors Look Dull
Symptoms
The design appears less vibrant than expected.
Solution
Complete the second press.
Benefits include:
- Better durability
- Softer feel
- Improved color appearance
Problem: Heat Press Marks Around Design
Symptoms
A square outline appears on the garment.
Solution
- Place a cotton shirt or parchment paper over the garment.
- Repress for 5 seconds.
This helps relax the fabric fibers and remove press marks.
Problem: Transfer Doesn't Stick
Symptoms
The design peels away after application.
Possible Causes
- Temperature too low
- Not enough pressure
- Moisture in garment
- Uneven platen pressure
Solution
- Verify temperature.
- Increase pressure.
- Pre-press garment.
- Repress transfer.
Problem: White Ink Turns Yellow
Symptoms
White areas develop a yellow tint.
Causes
- Excessive heat
- Pressing too long
- Multiple unnecessary represses
Solution
Follow recommended pressing instructions and avoid excessive heat exposure.
Problem: Wrinkles in Transfer
Symptoms
The design has wrinkles or creases after pressing.
Solution
Always:
- Pre-press the garment
- Smooth garment completely
- Ensure transfer lays flat before pressing
Advanced Pressing Tips
Use a Press Pillow
Perfect for:
- Hoodies
- Seams
- Pockets
- Zippers
A press pillow creates even pressure across the transfer area.
Large Designs Feeling Too Shiny?
Cover with a cotton t-shirt during the second press.
Benefits:
- Softer feel
- Matte finish
- Professional appearance
Master the Peel Technique

Peeling low reduces stress on fine details.
Proper Transfer Storage
Store transfers:
- Flat
- Dry
- Away from direct sunlight
- At room temperature
Avoid:
- Garages
- Humid areas
- Excessive heat
Washing Instructions
For maximum durability:
✔ Wait 24 hours before first wash
✔ Turn garment inside out
✔ Wash in cold water
✔ Tumble dry low or hang dry
✔ Use mild detergent
Avoid:
✘ Bleach
✘ Fabric Softener
✘ High Heat Drying
Quick Troubleshooting Chart
| Issue | Most Likely Cause | Quick Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Small text lifting | Peeled too early | Cool completely |
| Humidity spots | Moisture trapped | Repress with cotton shirt |
| Edge lifting | Low pressure | Increase pressure |
| Dull colors | No second press | Complete second press |
| Yellowing | Excessive heat | Lower temp/time |
| Press marks | Fabric compression | Repress with cotton cover |
| Poor adhesion | Low pressure or temp | Repress properly |
| Wrinkles | Garment not flat | Pre-press garment |
Enchanted Island Prints Pro Tip
Pressure is often more important than temperature.
Most DTF application failures are caused by insufficient pressure rather than insufficient heat.
